Belphegor is Austrian extreme metal band from Vienna, formed 1992 as a death/black metal duo by guitarist/vocalist Jörg \"Kahne\" Their musical style: black and death metal influences; mixture of gore lyrics, humor, technical riffs, blast beats, melodic elements. They also use syncopated double-bass, and horns. Black metal-like tremolo guitars intercut with death metal brutality. Lyrical themes: Satanic, blasphemy, gore, often over-the-top. They have a unique style called 'Blackened death metal'.They were part of the early 90s wave.
