Biography

Sirenia is a gothic metal and symphonic metal band from Stavanger, Norway, founded in 2001 by Morten Veland after his departure from Tristania. The band is known for blending gothic and symphonic metal elements with touches of death metal, creating a dark, atmospheric, and melancholic sound.

Sirenia’s music typically features a rich combination of operatic female vocals, harsh male growls, clean male vocals, choirs, and orchestral arrangements. They often incorporate instruments such as violins and 12-string guitars, which add depth and cinematic texture to their compositions.

Lyrically, Sirenia explores themes of life, death, love, hatred, and psychological decline. Throughout their career, the band has undergone several changes in female vocalists, including Fabienne Gondamin, Henriette Bordvik, Monika Pedersen, Ailyn, and the current vocalist Emmanuelle Zoldan, who joined in 2016.
